Slumdog Million….snooze…zzz.zzz.zz
I am sick to the back teeth of this fucking film. Now I haven’t seen it and have no intention of. Why? Cos tt looks shit aesthetically, the premise looks like a primary school kid essay, it looks badly acted and I’m wary of any film that wins this many awards. So to save me ever having to see it, can those that have answer me this:
1. How is it a British film? It’s set in India, with Indian characters as far as I am aware. So how? Is it because of our colonial past ie because we no longer make any decent films of our own we have to claim this one just because the guy in it is from Skin and it’s in English?
2. Is the premise really as trite as it appears? IE – I am poor, now i am rich, I can leave behind the rest of the poor people. Success. A perfect Thatcherite narrative.
3. It was written by the guy that wrote Full Monty. That is in my 5 worst films. So isn’t it likely this will be too?
By the way, even if youse aw say it’s gid which you probably will now just to argue the toss, I’m no believing you and I’m no parting with my hard earned.

1. Written by a Brit, directed by a Brit, starring a Brit, majority of funding from the UK.
2. No. Money is far from glorified.
3. Full Monty is ok.
The script’s foundations are straight from a Maggie Bald 3rd year essay but overall the film is mildly enjoyable, though ultimately forgetable.
I thought of one other perhaps positive reason. The film’s title can be easily appropriated for the inevitable porno remake.
I canny believe you have already seen this shit roochero. You have changed and not for the better.
To be fair I saw it in its opening week but it was ok. Didn’t get good til the skag kicked in mind
i saw a free preview thing of this in the cinema before aw the hype carry oan and i thot it was alright but havent really thot about it since – although it is a shocking the amount of attention it is getting – i heard originally it was supposed to go straight to dvd.
maggie was never a writer more of a singer.
The much maligned Ms Bauld could turn her hand to anything I think you’ll find. Bit smelly though, but all great artists have their quirks.
