Stewart Lee
2009 March 24
Another drearfest. The March of the Penguins routine is years old. Can’t he create enough new material to fill a half hour slot?
Delboy falling through the bar was the funniest moment of the show. Perhaps not the funniest moment of all time but certainly generating much more mirth than Jerry Springer: The Opera, which Lee co-wrote.
I’m bored of these oxbridge types mocking popular culture.
Lazy, re-hashed and dull. Won’t be wasting any more time with this pish.

I dinny git how you hink comedy has a sell by date? It’s not milk. If it’s funny, it’s funny and I think his show is funny. The jazz racist thing was brilliant and so was the Ant and Dec Picture of Dorian Gray thing as was the Mallard duck gang rape bit.
He’s not mocking popular culture, he’s mocking shit culture. So what if the targets are easy? They are necessary.
Finally, I know for a fact that you will be watching the rest of the series ya bawjaw!
Missed it last night as am down south with work but looking forward to catching up with it on iPlayer the morra. What a laugh.
Let’s not forget, Roochero is a big fan eh One Foot in the Grave.
I only saw the interactive bit when mormanski text which in all honesty i thot was quite funny. i recorded the main show so i will watch it tonight and be able to let you know what i think.
one thing tho why does he look like morrisseys brother?
he does. I think he is obsessed with Morrissey actaully, I’m sure I saw him on once talking about him. Even more obsessed than you Sauzee
He also likes hip hop and dropped a Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy reference this week and talked about Public Enemy last week.
He likes old skool hip-hop and believes today’s stuff to be vapid, with no message (like his comedy) ie. he canny be bothered lookin for the political stuff any more and takes it that the rap Kanye West does with Estelle is indicative of the genre as a whole.
The basics are that this man can’t be bothered any more, even with his own comedy. I don’t think things necessarily date but if you want to comment on pop culture then be aware that it moves very quickly and stay on top of it.
SL is yesterday’s man. He want’s to be as free as Sadowitz but can’t as he’d be kissing goodbye to the quiz panel and talking heads cash.
this freedom comes at a price judging by the smell emanating from my last encounter with sado – he smells and wore the exact same clothes three years in a row. also has been reduced to peddling his videos(not dvds) and tapes (not cds) outside his gigs. recently playing such towns as dunfermline.
This guy looks like morrissey and for that reason im in.
What’s wrang wi tapes like?
watched it the night. thot the del boy thing was really funny the rest of it so so. still canny get past the morrissey thing tho. the actual sketches are in general pretty pish
oh aye thinking about it Mallard duck gang rape thing was funny as well
Take it all back. I switched off half-way through last night. Absolute rubbish.
Agreed, twas weak last night.
*smug grin*
The child’s ballet shoe thing made me feel a bit sorry for him.
I fully expect this to be a mid season lull. He will be back to normal next week. And by normal I mean funny.
its just political correctness gone wrong. no matter how many times you say that over and over it doesnt get funny. i watched it all however it will be the last time.
or gone mad…
Did you add this mormanski:
You are posting comments too quickly. Slow down.
Eh? add what?
Back on form I thought.
Partially, although he kind of finds a point and then labours it for 10 minutes. The whole ‘remember when we used to Woolies on a Saturday morning’ started well, then become irksome. And the skit about the family looking to live in the estate agents’ arse was obvious and puerile.
His funny bits are somewhat eroded by a constant feeling that he very, very pleased with himself. Fair does I suppose. He did write Jerry Springer: The Opera after all.
Back on form last night I thought.
Fuck, I missed it.
Iplayer dude.
I only saw second half to be fair, but it was quality stuff.
Aye, just watched it. Really gid, apart from the apple shop bit at the end, which was awful and only saved by the trombone.
Dunno, when the guy looked like he wis going to take his troosers aff I thought it wis pretty gid. The Travelodge tirade was great.
Went out on a high last night, loads of LOL moments, and one where his sardonic, sarcastic even emug tone actually worked in his favour. And Jerry Sadowitz was Jimmy L Fixit.
He needs to ditch the sketches tho.
Aye some of the sketches are sketchy but definitely the best show of the bunch. That’s the last one though. Pope’s Prada shoes bit was ace.
