As a long term fan of Star Trek, I simply have no interest in this film. Not sure why, leaved me cald.
It’s meant to be really good, although it’s by that J J Abrams who made Lost (pish), Mission Impossible 3 (dog shit) and other things which I have no desire to see. However I think I would like to see this out of curiousity. I never like Star Trek much from the Next Generation onwards but I love the original series, which was reliant on story telling, wit, pathos and genuine sense of adventure rather than special effects and action set-pieces.
The performances of Shatner & Nimoy and the naive sets (Grups & Lavarug spring to mind), plots and effects give the originals an untouchable charm.
The later Kirk/Spock eps are pedestrian and anything from Generations onward (borg excepted) deserves nothing less that a clusterf*ck in a sh*tstorm.
You say clust*rfuck in a shitst0rm as though as it’s a bad thing? Sounds ace.
But agreed. The one with Joan Collins where she has to die even though she’s a goodie, so as not to fuck up time is one of the best hours of telly ever.
