Had a quick scan… half of the suggestions are predominantly English language songs. There’s even one (Voyage de Penelope by Air) which, far as I recall, has no lyrics at all. Maybe that’s the “joke”.

Of the proper Frenchies there aren’t many artists I haven’t tried. Might trawl through it sometime in hope of a gem.

    LVNP is a timeless classic.

Amsterdam by Jacques Brel is astoundingly good. Although I feel I’ve heard it before… Although I guess he’s not a proper Frenchie either.

In fact could Jacques Brel be Val Dood?

Will check it out. The only song of his I have is ne Me Quitte Pas, which is a bit theatrical but good all the same.

A lot of his sonsg were roughly adapted to English. Can’t recall which ones but I think some were big hits.

Just read about it, Bowie covered this song but his version is completely shit. Scott Walker also did a few of his songs, most memorably Jackie(http://open.spotify.com/track/7BT29P6gnYZbKuALFYgdhs)!
