Genuine, if rather dull, question

Sorry, but this is bugging me. Why sometimes when you go to print an e-mail do you only get the option of printing all the odd or even pages, instead of being able to specify which pages you want.? I can think of absolutely NO circumstances under which you would want to print only the odd or even numbered pages of an e-mail.
Please please please can someone explain this for me?

If your printer is cheap, you may not be able to print on both sides. Solution: print odd numbered pages, reload printer with those pages upside down, print even numbers.

Ahh. I see. Ridiculous though to have this as an option. If I’m honest, I’m still not really content with this whole situation.
