Mormanski’s Annus Horribilis

2009 November 30
by roochero

His favourite artist, his living god, repulsed him by gargling on the Pepsi dollar… the pain was unbearable… somehow he pulled through.

What now for mormanski as the sacrifice of his favourite song marches relentlessly to the number 1 spot and blanket coverage this X-mas?

It’s the video that really gets me. I think it’s meant to be intentionally funny. It’s about as funny as ass rape (when you’re the victim I should add)

Which video? The one that Roochero posted or the original?

That boy on the X-factor wisely chose to neglect massive amounts of the notes in that song.

Bob Dylan. I didnae click on this link before. It’s fuckin awful though. Apparrently it’s already decided this punk will win and this is apparently the single he will release. Either way Mormanski, you’re gonna love the Xmas No.1 this year.

The premises of this post are severely flawed.

Premise 1: I have had a bad year because Bob Dylan allowed his song to be used on an advert for Pepsi.

Reality 1: I was disappointed, I hate advertising and want society to treat advertising like it would treat a ginger pig flu ridden step child convicted of paedophilia. However, I was mildly disappointed for about 2 nano seconds, I then forgot about it as I tucked into a delicious Wispa Gold and took long delicious drink of coffee and listened to ‘You’re a Big Girl Now’ and scratched my nuts. Ah joy.

Premise 2: A karaoke cover of “Don’t Stop believin’” by a contestant from X Factor on the reviled ITV has somehow left me disillusioned with this world. Futhermore, it’s gradual and unstoppable ascent to the top of the hit parade on Christmas day will leave me on the brink of suicidal despair.

Reality 2: I have heard this song a grand total of once. I don’t give a monkey’s about its eventual chart position or whether it’s number one at Christmas, I don’t remember what was numero uno during any other Christmas’s except perhaps the Band Aid ones. Years ago, I detuned ITV, since I found static was more enjoyable to watch.

Premise 3: Bob Dylan’s recent album is not as good as previous fair. This lapse in quality from one of my favourite recording artists has almost driven me to the edge of sanity. I spend days and nights moping around, wondering why. Walking over bridges, looking into the murky depths, seeking the courage to jump and escape this pain.

Reality 3: Bob Dylan has a fine tradition of poor albums. Lest we forget.

    Saved (1980)
    Shot of Love (1981)
    Infidels (1983)

And these were on the fucking bounce! I survive safe in the knowledge that his good albums are undoubtedly up there with the finest cultural artifacts of the 20th century. Even if he were to change his name to Bob Pepsi and release an album called ‘Max Taste, No Sugar’, this will still be true.

My unassailable cultural superiority over Messrs Maverickmcp and roochero has taken a knock, true. But the knock has only served to reveal the strength of the bedrock on which it is built.

Racist. (And hypocritcal when you consider the paedo charge.)

I’m not racist. I’m merely highlighting how society treats these people.

It’s not sexist to point out that women don’t get equal pay in this country.

I do not condone this behaviour and in fact I recently donated £2.00 to charity dedicated to helping this exact group of people.

Neither is it a personal attack aimed at you, since as far as I know, you don’t have pig flu.
