Gender confusion

Now that she’s in the news again, I can account for the confusion of the sex of that female african runner. Her English isn’t that good and when they enquired to see if she was a man, using a pretty definite signifier, she in fact thought that they were enquiring about how to spell her name…
Doctor: Semen?
Man/woman runner: ..ya!

‘Twas buried in the Athletics section of the BBC website. How anyone who wasn’t searching for the phrase “Hermaphrodite Semen” could have found it is beyond me. Each to their own I suppose.
